Whether it’s Uniqlo courting Steven Alan or Zac and Jean Paul tag teaming Target, you can’t turn around these days without catching a designer and brand mid-collaboration. It’s enough to make you blush.
So when Levi’s creative director Len Peltier accidentally tweeted about a collaboration with Opening Ceremony our little hearts were aflutter. After all, our heads were still reeling with January’s peek at Henry Holland’s second collaboration with the brand, so this news was what even fashion insiders can’t help but refer to as a‘’double whammy’.
We were already up to our eyes in denim last week when images began to leak from the project, wow, there was no denim to be seen. The collab is strictly corduroy - and lots of it! Just in time for Spring’s color wave the unisex pieces come in teal, fuchsia, lavender, olive, curry, navy and optical white. Each look consists of pants, a button down shirt and a jacket, that’s right these guys are getting all Canadian Tuxedo on our asses.
Because this project just can’t stop being cool, the collabs go on. Yeah, Ryan McGinley took a break from shooting Olympians and cavorting about naked to shoot the lookbook. And, if Peltier’s since-removed tweet was accurate, a film is to follow, featuring an original track by Pictureplane. So yeah, it’s been a good week in Levi Land.
Check out a few of the looks below modeled by none other than Mister Mort. But don’t get too excited, the stuffed animals are not part of the collection.
